Mount Fuji (Fuji-san) National Park is located in the Fuji District of central Japan. It is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Fuji-san is well-known for its amazing landscape, which is very rare in Japan, probably because it does not have the many other high mountains around it. Mount Fuji dominates the landscape of the region and provides a perfect backdrop for a number of natural hot springs and unique natural scenery.
Fuji-san is also the nation's second-highest mountain and has the distinction of being the only place in Japan where you can stand on the summit. The mountain is well known for its natural beauty and has ranked as the most beautiful place in the world by several measures. It has also ranked as the second most popular vacation destination in Japan.
Mount Fuji stands at an elevation of 12,388 feet above sea level making it the third-highest peak in the world. It's considered sacred by many people in Japan and was even incorporated into several important ancient inscriptions such as the Muromachi Pillars. The Fuji-san Summit is believed to be over two thousand years old. It has the distinction of being the only Japanese mountain that is home to a number of spiritual temples.
Because of its sacred nature there are a number of shrines dedicated to Fuji-san and worship. Some of these shrines include the Fuji-Hatsumoto temple which was built to honor the shrines. Another temple is the Fuji-Sensei temple which was built near the Shichi-jo pilgrimage site. There are also shrines dedicated to other important figures such as the Shinto god of Mount Fuji, Amatsuji Shrine, Asagi Shrine, and the Katsuji Temple. The shrines have kept the tradition of offering rice grains to the mountain gods and this has been a tradition for many generations.
A number of hiking expeditions are conducted each year from the town of Fuji-san itself. There are several ways to hike to Fuji-san depending on your preference and the purpose of the trip. Most hikers start their trekking journey at the Chuo Koen district, which is where the main trekking centers are located. Other hikers choose to begin their hike at the Ogasawara district and walk to the Fuji-san crater.
If you decide to make a day trip to Fuji-san then a great way to enjoy the beautiful scenery and natural surroundings is to climb the Fuji-Hirahara plateau. This is the highest point in Japan and offers a wonderful view of Mount Fuji and surrounding regions. You will arrive at the subashiri summit after about an hour's hike and there are also a number of wonderful viewpoints at the subashiri and summit. Once you reach the summit, there is only one direction you can take down.
Some other great hiking spots from Mount Fuji are Aoba, Hakone, Asahara, Hatta, Honshu, Tomohazu, Yogonya, and the Naoferen district. Most visitors begin their climb to Mount Fuji from the city of Tokyo or the Chuo Koen region. You can either hitchhike on a local bus or use one of the numerous minibuses that run between Tokyo and the various climbing areas. The journey takes about three and a half days. However, visitors often choose to spend part of the day at one of the local Hotels in the Fuji-Hakone area.
It is extremely important to respect the temple shrines at all times when visiting any sacred site. Some climbers have been told not to wear sharp or open blades on their blades. It is also forbidden to carry anything sacred, even if you are just a tourist taking a photo. Respect the sacred sites at Mount Fuji and you will maximize your experiences in Japan.
